March 31 – Review by Stefan – LETHAL STEEL: Running From The Dawn (High Roller Records / Soulfood / Sure Shot Worx)

Saluting from Sweden, this five piece formation brings out their latest achievement, it’s become an EP titled “Running From The Dawn”. Filled with four songs that almost give you a pleasant dose of heavy metal for just over 18 minutes, production wise I’m very pleased ! This is a typical band that can best be described as underrated. Their debut “Legion Of The Night” (High Roller Records) saw the light of day in 2016 and in my opinion didn’t get the attention it deserved. Injustice and unheard of as we have all experienced so many times in the past, interesting bands are abandoned and the weak go for the prizes. If I can speak for myself, I have a strong affection for starting or lesser known bands, everyone should have their chance. I suspect that many just look forward to mainstream, well-known formations and see the rest go by that way. Lethal Steel may be less famous in the contemporary metal movement, I can guarantee that they are worth to check out their way of metal.

There was a span of 4 years between the debut album and this latest EP, but that was mainly due to several line-up changes. I have listened to some old songs from this band to make a comparison with their latest effort and come to the conclusion that Lethal Steel has made a big step forward, I mean musically focused. Their traditional heavy metal style has remained almost untouched, the difference with the past is in the finish of the songs and the vocalist seems to empathize with me. You can best define his way of singing as not commonplace, say unique. Difficult to compare with others and, with a little getting used to, I now profile myself as a fan. No high notes or aggressive situations, I just let the vocal service come at me with pleasure. READ MORE…
