March 17 – Review by Officer Nice – DEMONHEAD: Black Devil Lies (Fastball Music / Rock Inc.)

So once and a while a band from Australia is flying in… It still is a bizarre country but after all a land I really want to see in my life. It has something mysterious, something magical even. I can’t really explain it but I always have that kind of special feeling about this immense country. Talking about Metal we can also say that some goodies saw the day of light down under. Bands like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo as Hard Rock bands, but also nice Metal bands like Vanishing Point, Vauxdvhil (with their majestic masterpiece) and for example Lord.

So yes, Australia is always interesting and Demonhead was to me an unknown band. It seems these lads released their debut in 2015. I’ve read the band sounded different in those days, talking about “Black Devil Lies” I can say this is more than a decent Metal album. Musical wise this band is heading between Heavy and Power Metal with lots of mid-tempo thrash metal influences. They deliver us pretty catchy songs and tracks that were written with the intention to please the listener with hard hitting drums, powerful guitars and great arrangements. This band sounds traditional but is strong enough to produce a typical sound. At some points they do remind me a bit to the old Meliah Rage, the underrated US Power Metal band. READ MORE…
