March 13 – Review by Stefan – MINDTECH: Omnipresence (Tritech Music / Gordeon Music)

I would like to close this week with a worthy review for the new album by the Norwegian band Mindtech, founded in 2007 by guitarist/songwriter Thor-Axel Eriksen. From 1992 up to 2000 he was active in progmetal act Tritonus, after this period he decided to stop playing the guitar for an indefinite period of time. But as it’s often the case, his passion also returned and he founded Beyond Flames with members of his former band Tritonus, as well as musicians from Ulver, Winds and Circus Maxima joined the ranks. Under this moniker, some songs were written and a three song demo was released.

Shortly afterwards this band took the first steps on stage, albeit under the name Mindtech with which they were allowed to act as support band for the famous Volbeat, 2 sold-out gigs took place. Along with a new guitarist the recordings for a debut effort started, the live activities were discontinued until the album “Elements Of Warfare” was born on October 11th. 2013. Live performances were resumed but after a few gigs the singer called it quits. He was replaced by Mathias Morlund Indergard with which the recordings for a second album started. READ MORE…
