Ma 20 – Review by Stefan – GRINDPAD – VIOLENCE (Iron Shield Records / Soulfood)

The Netherlands is magically represented here by a five-man, Thrash Metal formation Grindpad. Formed in 2006, backpacked with a couple of EP’s, the time has come to let loose their full-length basher “Violence” to the masses. Take the title of the album to heart because the band goes for it in full force, when you listen to their latest effort you will end up in a real whirlwind where there is no escaping. It’s all about an 11-song loaded album where thrashing maniacs akin to sound of old Exodus, Slayer, S.O.D., Crumbsuckers/Agnostic Front/Leeway, Sacrilege BC, Municipal Waste, Metallica and stuff will have a blast !

The production is real good an the cover artwork done by Ed Repka (EvilDead, Death, Defiance, Hexen, Megadeth so many other !) looks, as usual awesome ! The song writings are real good, typical Thrash Metal minded with a little Hardcore/Punk vibes as well. Long story short, “Violence” does not beating around the bush, they start furiously and follows the good old tradition of Thrash Metal until the very end. A few songs have a mid-tempo character and feels real good to me. When you’re 56 years old, it’s not that easy anymore to keep up with the ultra-fast tempos, you know? READ MORE…
