April 25 – Review by Officer Nice – NEPHYLIM – SEVERANCE OF SERENITY (Independent / Hard Life Promotion)

Lately I bought some dark Death and Thrash Metal, I even purchased the awesome album of the Black Metal band Abigail Williams. Once and a while I really need this kind of music, it is the darker side of my personality that demands it. Okay, it’s summer time now and actually it is the ideal period to listen to some AOR or melodic tunes, but hey, don’t blame me to listen to the darkest sounds as well. I really can enjoy Black Metal and Death Metal, as long as there’s a special atmosphere in it.

From out of Holland I just discovered Nephylim. It’s a total unknown band to me. The band is mainly influenced by the Scandinavian extreme Metal scène and that can be heard easily. I hear influences, mainly from Death Metal but also Black Metal seemed to be a source of inspiration. That’s probably why I really like this album, I have something with that kind of Scandinavian Black Metal bands. I hear the darkness from out of the dusky woods into the music and that brings me into the perfect mood. READ MORE…
