April 07 – Review by Officer Nice – FREAK INJECTION – DADDY IS THE DEVIL (Doweet Records)

A sunny Sunday afternoon… Normally I would have been or at a Football match or I would have been on a holiday. But thanks to the Covid-19 crisis I am obliged to stay home. Well, if it’s necessary to stay safe and to help other people to say healthy I don’t mind at all. So, I’m listing to some old and new music, making some reviews. In my hand I have a band from France, Freak Injection. I have never ever heard a word about the band and the front cover seems a bit bizarre, doesn’t look Metal at all. The intro reminds me a bit to the Retro House music, which is also has something magical once you’re into it.

Listening any further this seems to be a Rock band, a harder Rock band. It is clear this band is mainly influenced by the Eighties Rock scène, some New Wave from that era and even the Seventies David Bowie period crosses my mind. I can’t say this is a Metal band but that didn’t stop me to like this album. Musical wise I hear some great things, good refrains, memorable arrangements and a vocal singer with a very strong an clear pair of lungs. Maybe here and there a bit of Rammstein influences are added too, but on a soft way. READ MORE…
